How is my stock identified?
Every case is marked and identified with a unique “rotation number”. You will be advised of this number on receipt. You can also access your account at any time on our website, using a password known only to you, and view these rotation numbers noted against your wine.

Is my stock insured?
Yes, unlike others we do not seek refuge behind terms and conditions limiting our liability, nor are there excesses or exclusions in the small print. We insure all stock entrusted to our care “All risks” to its full replacement cost. Resulting from our claims record we also have cover for normally un-insurable risks such as unexplained loss.

How do I pay duty if I want my wine delivered?
Vinotheque will pay duty on your behalf and ask you to refund us. Remember that when duty is paid VAT also becomes payable on the total duty paid value of the wine, in other words, on the cost of the wine plus the duty. On the other hand in bond sales are technically outside the scope of VAT. Therefore if you sell your wine in bond there is no VAT payable.

How is my stock delivered?
In addition to the warehouse at Burton-upon-Trent the site also includes one of London City Bond’s regional distribution centres. Trunk vehicles are moving daily between centres in London, Chippenham, Wakefield and Paisley. Local delivery vehicles are based at each of these centres. Your wine would therefore be delivered to your door by our parent company London City Bond. When we are carrying out delivery your stock is insured in transit to full replacement cost.

Can you advise me on values and when ready to drink?
Our apologies, these are the two areas that we do not get involved in. We have an expertise second to none in wine warehousing and distribution, for values and drinkability we must refer you to your wine merchant and their expertise.

How do I order my wine?
We are happy to take instruction by fax or by email, but probably the easiest way is to place your order directly onto this website. We regret that we cannot accept verbal orders.

Can you advise me on the physical condition of my wine?
Yes, we will send you a full report including details of the condition of cartons or cases, corks, capsules, and labels. We will also send you an image of the bottles showing ullages. The cost for supplying a condition report is currently £3.80 + VAT.
